At the request of one of my most dynamic teachers ever (Joanne Sharpe): I'm back! I've had so much fun at Letter Love 101 that I've decided to keep exploring this avenue. Working hard to let go and have fun with this whimsical new (old) art form. . .
| My practice journal. Which I need to get out and practice in some more. |
Some basic letters. . .
| People want to see this as a t-shirt. Hmmm. . . |
| My first "doodle" letters. . . |
And my doodle letters enhanced. The black helped. |
| Practice working really quick. Really loose. |
More doodle practice really quick. Really loose. This took maybe five minutes, max! |
I want to play some more like this. Wouldn't this make a great 60s style A-line dress? |
Reminding myself to be more imperfect. Isn't that called WabiSabi? |
| tight love. . . |
Loose love next to tight love. Guys, it seems, liked the loose love better. |
Really quick, really loose. This was done on Ash Wednesday. Tone on tone. . . |
Had to revisit and polish this one up a little bit, because peeps really responded to this one. This is more what I was thinking, but still I'd like to rework it. Hard to capture that really loose look while trying to make it perfect. What was that lesson awhile back? Embrace imperfection? |
| In memory of Mark D. RIP. |
| Speaks for itself. Fast. Quick. Loose. |
This was my first lesson in the class, and people really responded to this. Note to self: DO MORE OF THIS! |
This was a word sketched and cut out of paper, glued over a background. I was stubborn and didn't do it as guided. . . and I never was happy with the outcome. When will I learn to listen? |
| Play some more, girl. PLAY! |
| I have a feeling there will be lots more of this kind of work going on here. |
All done on the computer. A SUPER-quick sketch and stock background from www.sxc.hu. THANK YOU Billy Frank Alexander, for the use of the background. Sorry peeps. The background cannot be reproduced. |
| well? |
| I think I should do some words like this. . . |
| Love how the O looks like a tulip. Happy accident. |
| Like we didn't know that already. |
Need to work this one up nicely. . . good sketch though. . . |
| yes. |
I had fun with spray backgrounds - but again, my stubborn, independent baby had to refuse to use the recommended materials. They're pretty - but they won't work well for what we were supposed to use them for. Good thing I've got lots of ideas. Some say rugs. Some say silk scarves. . . |
| Now FILL IT, girl. Get goin'. . . |
Here we go! Some of my newest creations. I'm going to be building on these foundations for awhile. I've got so many ideas. . .
WOWOWOWOWOW!
ReplyDeleteI love all of them! You've been so busy - these are fabulous. You have so many moods and modes of play that you execute so well. You can hit accent notes with the swirl of your pen. I have such admiration! I can't do loose - I look stiff always. LOVE your portfolio here. xxoo
